Roberto J. Mendez, President

President,  Designer and Master Craftsman, Roberto J. Mendez 

Education: BFA, Industrial Design; BFA, Sculpture, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA

Roberto J. Mendez has built custom cabinetry and furniture for a variety of private and commercial clients for the last 30 years. He works with wood, metal, clay and glass. 

Roberto also creates sustainable furniture using repurposed wine barrels, salvaged palm trees and other recycled materials.

After several years building custom yachts at San Diego’s Knight & Carver, Roberto began working with local furniture and cabinet makers. He obtained his general contractors license In 1990, and began his own business. in 1994, MZ3D, Inc. was founded to expand the capabilities and services offered to clients. 

At MZ3D, we have been happy to employ and retain many talented artists, craftsman and sub-contractors. We support the endeavors of young artists and have had great experiences with masters students from San Diego State's furniture program as well as Palomar College's furniture program.

Our work has been featured in multiple times in San Diego Home and Garden, Home Theater and San Diego Magazine and the San Diego County Fair Woodworking Show.
